On Sunday, 10th March, at 5:30 PM, Pune Writers' Group will host an event at Pagdandi Bookstore, Baner, where we will launch The Woman on the Red Oxide Floor and feature novelist, short story writer, poet, and author of the book Shikhandin in conversation with acclaimed poet and novelist Priya Sarukkai Chabria, and Sucharita Dutta Asane, editor, Red River Story.

THE BOOK:
The Woman on the Red Oxide Floor by Shikhandin is published by Red River Story, an imprint of Red River, India. This is a novella of ideas, where reality and dreamscape merge and dissipate, disrupting the flow of time.
The novella as a prose form demands precision and conciseness, even as it seeks to grapple with expansive ideas. The Woman on the Red Oxide Floor is just such a courageous work – a play of the imagination, untethered, a fantastical leap of faith. It draws in elements of different genres, creating a sense of strangeness that challenges our notions of comfort and discomfort.

‘Shikhandin challenges and surprises the readers’
– Shashi Deshpande
‘Shikhandin’s evocative novella traverses through the inner and outer scapes of the consciousness of the protagonists’
– Sukrita Paul Kumar
‘Bridges the cosmic and the intimate … with elegant prose and unflinching honesty’
– Samit Basu
