The Wizard of Oz PantomimeStamford Pantomime Players is the longest serving society in Stamford and have been performing shows since 1951. Most of them right here at The Corn Exchange Theatre. They have been very successful over the past few years, being nominated for NODA awards for best pantomime and summer show and winning the best pantomime in 2023 with their production of ‘Aladdin’. They are so excited to be bringing their next production to the stage this Christmas – The Wizard of Oz Pantomime.
Dorothy’s house is caught up in a tornado and lands in the magical land of Oz, they are greeted by the munchkins and Princesses Margarette. After realising the house has flattened the wicked witch of the East, Dorothy is told to take her ‘Red Shoes’ by the witch of the North & South and head to the Emerald City where the ‘Great Wizard of Oz’ will help them find their way home along with Aunt Em and Margarette who is longing to find her prince they head off down the Yellow Brick Road.
Along the way they meets the Scarecrow, who wants a brain; the Tin Man, who wants a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who wants courage. So they all join the journey to the Emerald City. However, the wicked witch of the West is not happy that her sister has been killed so tries every attempt to stop them from getting there.
Will they ever meet the Wizard? Will they rid Oz of the wicked witch of the West? Will they all get their hearts desire? Will Dorothy and Aunt Em ever get home? The only way to find out is to buy tickets and come and watch the excitement unfold in front of your eyes live on stage…
