Chelmsford For You is conjuring up something magical in the city centre this Halloween, The Witches of Chelmsford, in collaboration with The Essex Witch Museum.
Did you know? Many of the major witch trials in Essex took place right here in Chelmsford, outside what is now Shire Hall. This October, step back into Chelmsfordβs bewitching past and uncover the fascinating stories behind it.
π§ Witchy Daytime Family Fun
From Monday 27 October to Sunday 2 November, explore Chelmsford and take part in the city centre Witch Trail:
β¨ Pick up or download your very own Witches of Chelmsford Spellbook
β¨ Track down witchy inflatables and window murals hidden around the city
β¨ Discover the history behind these mysterious objects and their connection to witches
β¨ Complete the trail to reveal the magical spell word and claim your exclusive Witches of Chelmsford stickers πͺ
π Spellbooks will be available from the Essex Witch Museum Pop-Up in Shire Hall during the event, or downloadable from Monday 20 October.

We are proud to be teaming up with the Essex Witch Museum to bring you the Witches of Chelmsford. They are working to collate and preserve the history of the witch trials held in Essex between 1560 and 1735
Their mission is to:
β¨ Reform the lost history of the Essex Witch Trials
β¨ Give voices to those who are persecuted and βotheredβ by society
β¨ Create a fun, safe, and equitable space for the community
β¨ Offer an interactive museum which caters for different learning styles
β¨ Inspire visitors to learn from the past, and build a more understanding and equitable society
