"SHEroes of NYC: The Untold History of Women in New York"

Behind many of New York's most significant projects are women who did the work and received little (or none) of the credit. This lecture surfaces those stories, and presses the question: how did generations of being written out of history shape the way women relate to autonomy, professional careers, and personal sovereignty?

We'll cover stories of women across different worlds. The throughline is less about industry and more about the pattern itself — women doing the foundational work and men (or institutions) getting the recognition.

Join us as theatre producer and NYC storyteller Jessie Fahay traces the unsung women who shaped this city — and explores why the instinct to downplay achievements might be less personal and more inherited. And more importantly, how we break free.

Jessie Fahay is a theatre producer who has spent 17 years creating provocative productions that spark change beyond the stage. With an MFA and MBA, she bridges artistic innovation and strategic leadership, and has delivered a TEDx Talk on arts-driven advocacy — proving that theatre can be a catalyst for dialogue, empathy, and action. A lifelong New Yorker and tourism industry veteran of 15+ years, she has countless stories about this city, all designed to make you think.

We'll explore:

  • Historical movements orchestrated by women in New York City.
  • Where the instinct to downplay our own accomplishments stems from – how it's inherited, not innate.
  • How women navigate the world today: job applications, dating, independence — and what's changed (or hasn't)
  • How we break free from inherited conditioning

What's included:

  • An intimate room of curious people. No lecture hall, no blaring music
  • Dedicated Q&A, one-on-one time with the speaker
  • Post-lecture discussion with fellow attendees
  • Beverages and food available for order
