The enchanting world of William Shakespeare brings you The Winter's Tale, where magic, betrayal, and redemption intertwine in a spellbinding tale of love and forgiveness. Set against the backdrop of two contrasting kingdoms, this timeless masterpiece takes audiences on a journey from the icy grip of jealousy to the warm embrace of reconciliation.
Director Vladimir Rovinsky describes this particular play as an interesting work from Shakespeare as it is neither a tragedy nor a comedy. The script straddles the two genres, and the actors find moments of levity amid the drama.
Minnesota State University, Mankato 2014 alumna Ali Bowman is joining the production as an Andreas Guest Artist for the scene design in this production. She has been touring internationally with Cirque du Soleil since she graduated.
The Winter’s Tale runs Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 27-Mar. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Mar. 1 & 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato. MSU students are invited to a free preview on February 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $17 regular, $15 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $5 for MSU students. The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. The Box Office line is 507-389-6661.
