A royal court is torn apart by a king’s paranoia and jealousy. Young lovers from different worlds fight to be together. The Winter’s Tale is often classified as one of Shakespeare’s romances because it doesn’t fit neatly into any of his other categories. Tragedy and comedy are combined in a story of isolation, betrayal, and starting anew. Across two worlds—lively, pastoral Bohemia and cold Sicilia—these characters seek to distinguish reality from illusion and find out what time is able to heal as the seasons change.
