Hosted by professor Foster Hirsch
Based on Cornell Woolrich’s “The Boy Who Cried Murder,” this suspense classic follows Tommy Woodry (Bobby Driscoll), a ten-year-old known for tall tales, until he really witnesses his neighbors (Ruth Roman and Paul Stewart) K*ll a sailor. Disbelieved by his exasperated parents (Barbara Hale and Arthur Kennedy) and the police, Tommy becomes the killers’ target as he flees into the city. Filmed on location in post-war New York, the film became a sleeper hit after its release in 1949, with Driscoll receiving a special Juvenile Oscar for his gripping performance. (USA, 1949, 73 mins, English | Dir. Ted Tetzlaff)
