The WHY? Contemporary Applications of the Immediacy Concept
About this Event
Abstract:
Contemporary surgical practices should routinely consider immediate implants for failing teeth. This course will review treatment planning for immediate implants in the aesthetic and posterior regions, including soft and hard tissue evaluation, site preparation and undersizing techniques.
It will also explore the critical role of implant micro and macro design for achieving the required insertion torque for immediate implant placement. Fabrication of immediate provisionals and the role of bone grafting materials including autogenous, allograft and xenograft options will be discussed.
For terminal dentition and fully edentulous patients seeking fixed restorations, this program will outline the key clinical factors used to assess candidacy for implant-supported fixed prostheses. The use of tilted and zygomatic implants to maximize anterior-posterior spread, improve cross-arch stability and avoidance of anatomic limitations will also be reviewed.
Finally, immediate loading protocols and contemporary digital workflows including photogrammetry, Straumann Revex and Exact plus verification jigs will be compared with traditional analogue techniques to provide practical guidance for clinical implementation and allow the audience to make practical decisions for the incorporation of the digital workflow in their practices.
Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the preoperative evaluation in the aesthetic zone
- Understanding the role of various bone grafting material in single implant therapy
- Understanding the pre-operative evaluation of the terminal dentition as well as the existing fully edentulous patient
- The role of the digital workflow in contemporary implant practices
