The Weird World of Haruomi Hosono: A Vinyl Listening Session
Come explore the world of Japanese music pioneer Haruomi Hosono!
About this Event
The Weird World of Haruomi Hosono
10 songs. 10 albums. One musical universe.
What do Japanese folk rock, tropical grooves, electronic pop, and experimental music have in common?
Haruomi Hosono.
Few musicians have traveled through as many musical worlds—or helped shape as many of them—as Haruomi Hosono. From his early days with Happy End to his groundbreaking work with Yellow Magic Orchestra and decades of genre-defying solo projects, Hosono has spent more than half a century exploring what music can be.
Join Ongaku Kissa HTX for an intimate, two-hour guided vinyl listening experience celebrating one of Japan’s most inventive and influential musicians.
We’ll explore ten songs from ten albums spanning Hosono’s extraordinary career. Along the way, we’ll uncover unexpected musical connections, share stories behind the records, and discuss what we hear together.
This isn’t a lecture or a DJ set. It’s an invitation to listen closely, discover something unexpected, and join the conversation.
No knowledge of Japanese music required. Just bring your curiosity.
