The course revolves around three core modules: Self-development (ethics), learning to live together in harmony (socio-politics), and building the future (philosophy of history).
Our experienced instructors will guide you through the complex ideas of the great philosophers of the East and West, and help you understand how their teachings can be applied to your own life. We'll discuss the importance of self-awareness, authenticity, and personal responsibility in creating a fulfilling existence and a better world.
The course is designed to be interactive and participatory, with plenty of opportunities for group discussion and self-reflection. By the end of the course, you will have gained a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you, and you will be equipped with tools to help you create a life with greater purpose and fulfillment.
There are 8 classes in the course.
Classes will take place IN-PERSON* weekly on Wednesdays from 7 pm -9:00 pm (with break), starting February 5th, 2025.
Topics include: Hinduism and the inner battle; Dharma, Karma and Reincarnation; What the Buddha taught; Confucius and the Harmonious Society; Plato's Cave; The Practical Wisdom of the Stoics; Justice in Ancient Egypt; The Cycles of Time in Mesoamerican Cultures; And more.
Classes include practical exercises to demonstrate the ideas taught through lived experience.
The course is a foundation course for the study program of New Acropolis, which includes advanced courses such as practical psychology, the wisdom of the east and west, symbolism of ancient cultures, oratory (public speaking) and more.
