Durham University Chamber Choir are proud to present our Michaelmas concert, ‘The Waiting Sky’. Reflecting on the beauty and mystery of winter, this program explores themes of stillness, light, and quiet anticipation. The first half features Poulenc’s stark and haunting ‘Un Soir de Neige’ and Oliver Tarney’s atmospheric ‘The Waiting Sky’, alongside Marian hymns and lullabies that evoke the season’s reflective mood.
The second half opens with Nils Greenhow’s striking ‘Advent Calendar’, followed by Richard Rodney Bennett’s heartwarming ‘Five Carols’, complemented by traditional and contemporary works that celebrate the serene and festive spirit of winter.
