On Monday September 30th from 5pm to 7pm, we will hosting the photographer Juno Rosenhaus and inviting people in the community to come possibly be a part of this exhibition. Come have your Vulva Polaroid Portrait taken by Juno! Some of these polaoid's may be included in the exhibition on our second floor gallery wall during her residency.
For the month of October we are exhibiting the photographic work of the artist Juno Rosenhaus, their exhibition is titled "I Won't Be Pretty For You, Vulvas Queered" a gender-inclusive, collaborative community project based on each participant’s reimagining of their vulva.
Participants include trans women, trans men, cis women, and gender non-conforming queers photographed in the Bay Area, Berlin, Chicago, New Orleans, and Philadelphia. The project defines VULVA as “external genitalia of many females, males, and intersex people.” Vulvas Queered is designed to facilitate and provoke conversation and story sharing about the trauma, delight, power, and pure radicalness of queered vulvas, with the goal of deepening the conversation beyond genitals equal gender or sex, and contest the assumption that the vulva is a body part that should look the same on every body.
The photoshoot will be quick, chill, and easy, in a private area set up by wall separators and curtains set up at Strut with the photographer. The photo session is of course free, and will operate on first come firs serve basis, we will have a sign up sheet and possible refreshments.
Art at Strut at Magnet is an art program that was created back in 2003 and for over 20 years has been exhibiting the work of a different queer artist once a month
