The Vibe For Philo

It began with a throw-away remark in 1981 by Phil Lynott to “Do a Vibe for me sometime” at the Alternative Song Contest. Following Lynott’s death in 1986 it seemed like the time for was right and so the first Vibe was staged to “remember so nobody would forget”. Since then, it has continued on the anniversary of his death on the 4th January each year, although Covid did force an exploration of online media these past two years (hence the 36th+). Part Concert, part convention, and part “Lizzy-family gathering,” the show brings together the best musicians to present Lynott’s back catalogue in a holistic and interpretive way.

Over the decades, almost every member of Thin Lizzy along with various collaborators and associates have graced the Vibe Stage. Many of Ireland’s leading bands and musicians have also contributed, while virtually every musical genre has been explored as a medium for Lynott’s musical legacy.

Sadly, like all good stories, this one has to end, and with so many of the original team having passed on it has been decided that this will be the last ever Vibe. Philip Lynott was thirty six when he died and that seems to be as good a time as any to take a final bow with his legacy safely preserved for the future.
