The Velvet Underground
This hypnotic new documentary from director Todd Haynes is a cinematic tribute to the The Velvet Underground, the legendary 1960s rock band that changed the face of rock and roll.
Fronted by Lou Reed and promoted by pop artist Andy Warhol, The Velvet Underground's beat poetry lyrics and sonic experimentation emerged from the exploding NYC art scene. It became one of the most revered rock bands in history.
The documentary dazzles with never-before-seen performance footage, rich recordings and kaleidoscopic oral history with those who were there.
The Daily Beast calls it "A trippy, sexy, must-see rock doc."
Directed with the era’s avant-garde spirit by Todd Haynes (I’m Not There, Velvet Goldmine).
An Apple original film.
