Ms Laila Kakar is a Senior Manager of Digital and Data Science at MTN. Passionate about leveraging technology to optimize decision-making, Laila’s main expertise is developing AI/ML-driven solutions to translate data into actionable insights to help enhance data-driven decisions. She holds an MSc degree in Econometrics and Operational Management from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

How do we measure the unmeasurable? This seminar will cover how insights gained by employing behavioural and predictive analytics could be used to optimize negotiation strategies. Negotiations can be compared to playing chess. After just three opening moves by a chess player, more than 9 million positions are possible. Similarly, complex combinatorial multi-unit tenders, have millions of outcomes/scenarios. By using game theory, x-functional decision-making could be optimized.

Dr Khwileh

Dr Khwileh is a senior consultant at Google, currently leading data science solutions for the largest clients and partners around the MENA and Turkey regions. He’s been with Google since 2011. Over the last decade, Dr Khwileh held multiple positions across the business and engineering organisations at Google including serving as global tech lead for the data analytics and science teams for more than 5 years. Dr Khwileh holds a PhD in Information Retrieval and Artificial Intelligence from Dublin City University. He is actively conducting part-time research in areas including Arabic Natural language processing, Web Analytics and Data Science. His research contributions were published in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences and AI Journals such as the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research and others.

advances in machine learning engineering from an industry perspective. The talk will cover some of the trends and myths in the data science domain and some of the current challenges on top of some applications and learning from this domain.

Dr Atheer Al-Mousa

Dr Atheer Al-Mousa is currently the Cybersecurity Program Leader at De Montfort University-Dubai. Dr Al-Mousa's area of specialisation is Computer Networks and Cybersecurity. In the past, he worked for several universities in the Middle-east, Asia and New Zealand. He started his career at the University of Nottingham as a lecturer. Dr Al-Mousa has several years of experience working in the higher education sector in the GCC. Dr Al-Mousa is the former Chair of the IT department and the Director of the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani. He also worked as the ITS Director for the American International University in Kuwait.
