In search of an altered state? Join us as we dive into the subconsciouswith a screening of community shorts and avery special screening of Maya Deren's The Witch's Cradle!
We will begin the afternoon with baroque piano performed by @AmberAmadeus, followed by a screening of community shorts curated by PRS contributing artist Guadalupe Arellanes. Featured films will invite audiences to ponder the surreal, absurd, and uncanny through experimental and horrifying visuals. Costumes are encouraged!
The Witch's Cradle (1944) is an unfinished, silent, experimental short film written and directed by Maya Deren, featuring Marcel Duchamp, and filmed in Peggy Guggenheim's Art of This Century gallery.

Repertoire of Death - A lucid dream leads to a dance with Death from the existential mind of @gwadalinaaa, featuring rarely heard music from the personal archives of @officialymasumac.
Ella Se Queda - Throughout a night out in downtown Tijuana, Laura waits for her destiny to arrive. Directed by @MarinthiaGutierrez, Ella Se Queda first premiered at the 63rd edition of Critic's Week at Cannes Film Festival, 2024.
Beauty Standards - A horror anthology short from the surreal memories of four women identifying artists of color. Set in a QVC-style world of commercialism, this experimental film explores the damaging and devastating effects of Eurocentric beauty standards. Created by @ttrriinnkkeett, Beauty Standards made its international premiere at Berlin Feminist Film Week

This event is organized by Guadalupe Arellanes.
Guadalupe Arellanes, PhD is an artist, researcher, educator based in Los Angeles. Her PhD research engaged with performance theory, ephemera, hauntings, and affect in order to discuss migration and migrant ecologies. Currently, she is a contributing artist at PRS and organizes Well-Beings, a monthly gathering for existential souls and wandering minds to explore ways of living well together, and has organized Meditating with Chaos and Uncertainty, a meditation & somatic yoga series designed to intentionally incorporate elements of perceived chaos or disarray into the sonic experience.

In the event that PRS is forced to cancel an event entirely, tickets will be refunded or vouchers offered for a rescheduled event.
PARKING
Limited parking is available onsite at PRS in both the front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east) and back lot (entry from first alley way, off Griffith Park Blvd. from intersection with Los Feliz Blvd.), as well as street parking on Griffith Park Blvd. and (after 7 PM) on Los Feliz Blvd. We encourage attendees to consider carpooling, walking or biking to events if possible, and please be considerate of our Los Feliz neighbors when parking, many thanks.
PRS EVENT POLICIES
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
- Events are subject to change without notice, including guest speakers and/or performers.
- We encourage you to arrive at least 30 min. before the scheduled event start time to find parking, enjoy the Bookstore and take your seats.
- Please turn off all mobile devices before the show. Talking and texting are not allowed during the events.
- No filming, audio recording or mobile phone recording of events, screenings, concerts or other programs by audience members is allowed without permission.
- There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.
- We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- PRS allows Service Animals into the facility under ADA and state guidelines. For further details please visit www.ADA.gov. No animals permitted whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support, under ADA guidelines and CA Health Code.
- Please do not bring outside food or drink into PRS events.
- Weapons are strictly prohibited at PRS events.
