About this Event

Bob Wiseman and Doug Paisley arrive from different corners of the Canadian musical weather system. One built from improvisation, sabotage, and sudden left turns. The other from slow-burning folk songs, haunted country tenderness, and the strange emotional clarity of a highway at dusk. Together they create something suspended between hymn, argument, confession, and beautifully damaged transmission.

Bob Wiseman, founding member of Blue Rodeo. Producer of Ron Sexsmith. Composer for film. PhD in improvisation. Recipient of several Junos and one cease-and-desist letter from Prince’s lawyers. Punk pianist. Lo-fi philosopher. Imagine Keith Jarrett and Joni Mitchell trapped in the same weather system.

Doug Paisley, Toronto songwriter, reluctant sage, practitioner of emotionally precise country-folk drift. Collaborator with Bonnie "Prince" Billy and long-time traveller through the shadows of North American song. His records featured appearances by Mary Margaret O'Hara and Garth Hudson, and his songs move with the quiet authority of someone more interested in truth than volume. Think after-hours radio from a sideways Canada inhabited entirely by melancholy intellectuals and unstable electronics.
