Two of Portland’s biggest players in their respective fields, Bull Run Distilling Co. in the craft spirits market, and Brian Kidd a.k.a. The Unipiper in the flaming-bagpipe-playing-unicycle-riding industry, today announce a first of its kind partnership - The Unipiper, a straight rye whiskey aged 7 years and finished 4 months in rum barrels hand-selected by the Unipiper himself. A portion of all sales from The Unipier will be donated to Weird Portland United, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that discovers, promotes, and nurtures the dreamers, creators, and risk-takers who Keep Portland Weird.
Regarding the spirit itself, The Unipiper is a 7-year rye whiskey with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malt. The Unipiper hand-selected a Bull Run Pacific Rum barrel for finishing on May 1st, 2025 where the whiskey spent 4 months before being bottled at an uncut 115 proof in September 2025.
For those looking to secure a bottle of The Unipiper Whiskey for themselves, a release party and bottle signing event will be held on November 20th from 5:30-7:30pm, hosted by event sponsor, Koerner Camera Systems, the leading cinema camera rental house in the Pacific Northwest. The party is open to the public and admission is free. Naturally, the Unipiper himself will be on hand providing entertainment, signing bottles, and pouring samples. Bottles are expected to sell out - first come, first served. Food will be available to purchase from one or more local food carts.
