The real edge behind effective negotiation, mediation, and high-stakes communication.
About this Event

Most negotiation training focuses on what to say. The Unhooked Negotiator focuses on what happens before you speak.

Because when pressure changes what you perceive, it changes what you choose.

Have you ever left a charged conversation thinking:

Why did I agree to that?
Why did I explain so much?
Why did I go blank?
Why did I get sharp?
Why did I soften when I knew the answer was no?
Why didn’t I say what I actually saw?

That moment is not just a communication issue.
Under pressure, a hook can distort your perception before you ever choose your words.

Silence can feel like rejection.
Disagreement can feel like danger.
Urgency can feel like obligation.
Confidence can feel like dominance.
Disappointment can feel like your responsibility to fix.

And once perception is distorted, your next move is already being shaped.
The pattern may be negotiating before you are.

The Unhooked Negotiator is a 90-minute in-person somatic lab plus one private resolution session with Stephanie Dawn Clark.

In the somatic lab, you’ll move through guided partner-based rounds with time to notice and journal between each round. You’ll begin to identify and map what happens in your system when pressure enters the room.

In the private resolution session, you’ll bring what you discovered into resolution-level nervous system work.

The purpose is to resolve the prediction, trigger, or pressure pattern underneath the automatic move, so the same pressure no longer produces the same response.

This is not a tactics workshop.
It is not script practice.
It is not traditional role-play.

It is a somatic lab plus private resolution work for professionals whose work depends on staying true to what they perceive inside charged conversations.

What Is an Impeccable Move?

An impeccable move is not a perfect move.
It is a move made with fidelity to what you actually perceive and intend.

Not from the pressure to explain.
Not from the impulse to appease.
Not from the need to regain control.
Not from the fear of someone’s reaction.
Not from the unconscious pattern that takes over before you have chosen.

An impeccable move is the move that becomes available when the hook is no longer distorting the conversation from underneath.

What Happens in the Somatic Lab

You’ll move through guided rounds of partner-based practice. Each round uses a simple pressure cue so you can notice what happens before your next move.

Pressure cues may include:

Silence
Disagreement
Urgency
Authority
Confidence
Expectation
Eye contact
Tension
Relational presence

Between rounds, you’ll have time to journal privately about what you noticed:

What cue affected you?
What changed in your body?
What happened to your perception?
What move did your system want to make?
Did you want to explain, soften, push, rush, freeze, defer, withdraw, perform, appease, or regain control?

The goal is not to perform a negotiation. The goal is to identify and map the pressure pattern that is already shaping the negotiation before you speak.

What Happens in the Private Resolution Session

The private session, conducted online via Google Meet, is where the work becomes individualized.

You bring what you discovered in the lab: the cue, the pressure response, the automatic impulse, or the moment where your system started moving before you consciously chose.

Together, we use resolution-level nervous system work to resolve the prediction, trigger, or pressure pattern underneath that response.

This is not coaching.
It is not advice.
It is not a debrief.
It is not a review of your whole history.
It is not learning a better script.

The purpose is resolution. We address the pattern at the level where it is operating, so the same pressure no longer has to produce the same automatic move.

No reliving required.
No performance required.
No need to have the whole story figured out.

Who This Is For

This workshop is designed for professionals, practitioners, and leaders whose work depends on staying grounded in what they perceive inside charged conversations, including:

Mediators
Coaches
Consultants
Counselors and practitioners
Founders and business owners
Real estate professionals
Sales and client-facing professionals
Managers and team leaders
HR and people professionals
Anyone navigating negotiation, mediation, conflict, repair, leadership, money conversations, client dynamics, or high-stakes communication

What You’ll Leave With

This is not just a workshop. It is a somatic lab plus private resolution work.

After the lab, you’ll leave with:

  • A more accurate read on how pressure affects your body, perception, timing, and next move
  • A private map of the cues that affect you most
  • More awareness of the automatic moves that show up under pressure
  • A focused direction for your private resolution session
  • A practical way to notice what is happening before you speak, concede, explain, soften, push, freeze, perform, or decide

After the online private resolution session, the intention is that you leave with:

  • At least one of those pressure patterns resolved
  • More room where the automatic move used to happen
  • More steadiness before you answer
  • More access to your perception when pressure enters the room
  • More ability to make the move that is actually yours

This is the real edge behind effective communication:

Not just knowing what to say.
Having access to yourself when it matters.
