Transcending race, religion and nationality, the Underground Railroad (UGRR) joined the American ideals of liberty and freedom expressed in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution with the extraordinary actions of men and women working in common purpose to free a people. Historian and Western Regions Coordinator of the National Underground Network to Freedom, Daniel P. Ott, will share documented histories of freedom seeking which make Texas and the western United States unique in the national UGRR story.
You are welcome to bring your own lunch to enjoy. Lunch will not be provided.
This presentation will also be streamed free of charge for all Galveston Historical Foundation members as part of their #GalvestonHistory+ account. Access will start at 11:15 a.m. on July 22nd.

ABOUT DANIEL P. OTT, PH.D.
Daniel P. Ott is a historian with the National Park Service in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He previously taught public history at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and worked at the Minnesota Historical Society.
