When the Museum of London moves to its new home in Smithfield, the existing 1970s building on London Wall will be redeveloped. In 2021, Contemporary Art Society, on behalf of the Corporation of London, commissioned Robert Kingham (presenter of ) to lead a new walk delving into its layers of history. The walk does not go into the Museum itself, but rather around and under it: and the stories, buildings, archaeology, and people whose lives it has touched are every bit as rich and effusive as the collections within.
On this walk you will encounter the lost alleys of Barnaby Rudge, the Infirmary for the Relief of the Poor Afflicted with Diseases of the Rectum, modernist dreamers, the brimstone doctrine of the Aldersgate meeting houses, the sieges of London, the well-water that cures drunkenness, the biggest fire between 1666 and 1940, the hermit of Cripplegate, and the oldest Jewish cemetery in England.

What are the two ticket types? The Standard ticket is £13.50, and there is also a Concession rate of £10.50 (for students, unemployed or low income).
Where is the meeting point? The walk begins on the lake terrace in front of the Barbican Centre, London EC2Y 8DS. The Barbican Kitchen is here and serves food and drink.
Where do we end up? The walk finishes at a stretch of Roman Wall within the Barbican, and we will then repair to the Lord Raglan, 61 St Martins Le Grand, London EC1A 4ER.
How much walking is there? The total length of the walk is 2 km (c. 3,000 steps) with a halfway pub stop.
How long does the walk take? Two and a half hours including one pub stop along the way.
Is the walk suitable for wheelchairs? Yes. There are a few areas where steps will pose a mild challenge, and the pubs have variable accessibility, but you will have a large group with you who are always delighted to help surmount any challenges.
Can I bring my well-behaved dog? Yes.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? No. We suggest that this event is more suitable for over-12s.
What's the refund policy? Tickets refundable 30 days before the event. If you need to swap with another advertised date we will do our best to help, but you won't be able to 'bank' your ticket for a future unadvertised event.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, your name will be on the list.
