Welcome to the Ultimate Playdate! where we are making intentional time for play in community and letting our lighthearted spirits shine! Play is medicine and we would be delighted to share and spread this joy with you.
Playshop: "Intro to Animal Flow"

(Outdoors. Side Yard. This is the residence of a friend. Plentiful neighborhood parallel parking along the streets.)
Animal Flow is a ground-based movement system and calisthenics conditioning choreography whose practice and play promote greater bodyweight strength, mobility, and agility. It fosters understanding of and creativity with your body in space and it is a great way to work out. In this workshop I will teach you most of the basic movements of level 1, and we will perform flows and execute games of movement expression together. You will leave with some new movement capabilities, some ideas for more fun and creative home workout drills, and a couple of impressive yet accessible animal flows to express your body’s playful power.
Pre-reqs: Please at the time of the workshop be free of current wrist injuries, especially ones which trigger pain when flexed and load bearing. The wrists will be in flexion and carrying your body weight for most of the practice, with many breaks of course. So if holding yourself in a plank pose with flexed wrists hurts your wrists at the level of immediate pain rather than strain over time, please sit out and feel free to watch the movers and visualize yourself there when your wrists are recovered.
Ages: 13 to 100! As long as you can get your hands and knees on the ground I can help you through these movements. Minors are required to have a responsible adult with them.

Vivien Reece is a holistic fitness coach who helps active, creative people get in shape and reduce muscle and joint pain through mobility, strength training, and contemplative physical play. She is a lifelong dabbler in many movement arts and sports but has a special place in her heart and practice for contact improv dance, exotic dance, tennis, volleyball, and good old fashioned walking. As a coach Vivien always tries to model deep intellectual inquiry combined creatively with deep physical experiencing.
