Chef Wes Coons
Chef Wes Coons is an award-winning BBQ pitmaster and professionally trained chef who graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of Virginia.
For six years, Wes ran a professional competition BBQ team, traveling and competing on the professional barbecue circuit alongside nationally recognized pitmasters and teams seen on television. His passion for mastering the craft also led him to travel and learn from some of the best in the business, including world champions Myron Mixon and Tuffy Stone. Wes trained with Myron Mixon at Myron Mixon’s BBQ School, adding championship techniques to his professional culinary training and competition experience.
Today, Wes brings those years of experience to the backyard cook—teaching people how to select, prepare, season and smoke incredible brisket, ribs, pulled pork and chicken without being intimidated by the process.
His philosophy is simple:
