The True Cost of Coal
About this Event
The True Cost of Coal
The Junior Center of Art and Science is thrilled to host the globally recognized Beehive Collective for an immersive, visually stunning, and thought-provoking workshop, The True Cost of Coal.
The Beehive Collective uses mountaintop removal coal mining in Appalachia as a lens to understand the historical and contemporary story of resource extraction. Teeming with images of plants and animals from one of the most biodiverse temperate forests on the planet, this massive graphic narrative serves as a backdrop for sharing—and seeking—stories of how mining impacts communities and ecosystems far beyond the mountain range.
Whether you are an activist, an artist, an educator, or simply curious about environmental justice and visual storytelling, this workshop offers a vital space for reflection and connection.
