A guided walk around Dane Valley Woods in the company of experienced conservationist Mike Phillips of White Horse Ecology.Dane Valley Woods has an impressive variety of native trees, planted on a former landfill site by volunteers since 2003. Under the expert guidance of Mike Phillips you will learn how to identify the various species and gain from his vast ecological knowledge. The woods has a wide range of biodiversity in terms of other flora and fauna that will be investigated and discussed over the course of the two hours.
Mike is a well respected expert in his field with over 20 years experience, and this is an opportunity not to be missed for anyone interested in local wildlife and nature conservation.
Attendance is free but is limited to 15 places on a strictly first come, first served basis. A link to a ticketing site will be available soon. Dane Valley Woods is entirely self funded, therefore cash donations on the day are welcomed in order to cover costs.
The event is aimed at over 16s, although children can be considered for attendance with a ticketed adult if a lack of childcare is an issue (subject to a discretionary maximum overall limit of 25 attendees, including Mike and the organisers). Please inform us in advance so that we can assess numbers.
The walk will take place along mown grass paths that can be uneven in places. The event is 2 hours long, however there will be frequent stops between short sections of walking.
The meeting point will be at the Dane Valley Woods noticeboard, located at the junction of Dane Valley Road and Kent Road. Please arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand for registration, so that the event can start promptly at 12pm midday.
