We’re delighted to announce that the next talk in our new Maritime Lecture Series is now set in the diary:
The Transatlantic Queens – Part One: Queen Mary
📅 Tuesday 14th April
🕑 2:00 pm
Having learned a great deal from the overwhelming success of our first lecture, we’re raising the bar even higher this time. Expect guest speakers, including former crew, along with original props, artefacts, and first-hand insight that will truly bring this great liner’s story to life.
Our very own Maritime Historian Alasdair Anderson has already begun delving deep into the incredible — and sometimes unbelievable — history of Queen Mary, from her conception and construction, through her glittering years as a transatlantic passenger liner, her vital wartime service as a troop carrier, and finally into retirement.
This is not just the story of a ship — it’s the story of the people who sailed on her, worked on her, and lived their lives aboard one of the greatest ocean liners ever built.
Such is the excitement already that places are being reserved, and we expect this lecture to fill quickly.
And this is only the beginning…
This lecture forms Part One of The Transatlantic Queens, to be followed by:
Part Two: Queen Elizabeth
Part Three: QE2
and more to come, as we aim to present a new lecture every six weeks.
If you enjoyed The Lusitania Affair, you won’t want to miss what comes next.
More details to follow very soon.
All aboard — the voyage continues. ⚓
