About this Event

Aging is a multifactorial process which has long been seen as undruggable.

We will discuss various approaches emerging to reverse the trajectory of aging,

and what we can do to enhance our time in a state of independence.

Topics discussed will include:

* Leading scientific themes of aging research, such as senescence, epigenetics, metabolism, exercise and inflammation

* Diseases of aging and clinical strategy

* Lifestyle changes we can undertake to enhance healthy aging

Speakers:

VIKTORIA KHEIFETS, PHD

Alkahest Therapeutics

Sr. Vice President Research

Viktoria Kheifets is Senior Vice president at Alkahest where she leads a cross functional team to identify plasma bioactives and their mechanisms of reversing age-dependent decline in the brain and other critical organ systems. Prior to Alkahest, Viktoria focused on new company formation at Third Rock Ventures in the fields of liver regeneration and immunometabolism. She was a Senior Group Leader of Biology at Edison Pharmaceutics where she headed drug discovery efforts in orphan mitochondrial diseases and diseases of aging. Viktoria obtained her scientific training at MIT and Stanford.

MARCO QUARTA, PHD

Rubedo Life Sciences

Co-Founder and CEO

Marco Quarta, PhD, CEO received his doctorate degree in Biotechnology from the University of Bologna and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Padua. He completed a post-doc in Aging and Stem cell Biology in the lab of Prof. Thomas Rando at Stanford University. He continued his work at Stanford directing a research team at the Center for Tissue Regeneration, Repair, and Restoration at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. While there, he established a translational program in regenerative medicine. He has over 35 publications and patents in the field of aging, stem cells, regenerative medicine, and rejuvenation.

Marco also co-founded and led Turn Biotechnology, Wetware Concepts and YEBN and served as an executive board member of the European Federation of Biotechnologies. He currently sits on the advisory board of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) Calpoly Bridge program, and the advisory board at the Center for Healthcare Innovation.
