The Together Space January 12th Pop Up

Join us on Sunday 12th January from 10am - 12:30pm at Big Penny Social.

The space is a big, open, warehouse style venue. It comprises a large space with tables and a bar on your right hand side when you walk in. Next to the bar are some doors to the event space that we will be using. It is a very big space that we will divide in two with a quieter area on one side and a higher energy activity area on the other.

Here's what to expect at the space:

QUIETER SPACE:

'Making My Mark' - Monoprinting Workshop by

Amanda is a practising Visual Artist, working in mixed media, experienced Art Psychotherapist and Arts Manager. She ran her first workshop with us in October and given how popular it was, she's coming back in January!

Monoprinting is a quick method to achieve an effective handmade print, like a lino or wood cut print, using safe and basic tools. The ‘magic’ of seeing your image ‘appear’ when peeling off paper from an inked plate or by using a roller on paper over a textured plate is a special moment!

We will work with direct and reverse techniques of printing, using coloured water-based inks, textured rollers, tiles and blocks, to create one-off and repetitive designs. We will also be using flat textured found materials: e.g., lace, leaves, string to make our own personalised prints, and for those of us that want to create our own marks/mini scene, polystyrene tiles will be scribed into. Using assorted sizes and types of paper, individual and group pictures will come together to create a gallery of marks, shapes and images.

In addition to making our individual monoprints, we will also have the opportunity to work together as a group, using textured rollers and finger paints to create a giant painting on the floor.

Duplo Play Session with Busy Bricks

Create, explore and engineer with Zara and her Duplo play session that has always been so popular at our events and we're excited to welcome her back!

ACTIVITY AREA:

Obstacle Course Inflatable with slide.

Make-Do-Play will be bringing their bits and bobs for a big loose parts focus this session with all kinds of weird and wonderful junk. Children will be free to let their imaginations run wild as they build, create and explore however they please.

The Together Space Tuck Shop:

Run by Reece, come and buy snacks, cookies and soft drinks from our tuck shop. You can buy hot drinks from the Big Penny bar.
