The presentation will be in the Krapf Gateway Building, 3rd floor, at Lycoming College.Join us on Friday night to kick off Victorian Christmas weekend and to hear about the amazing miniature mansion built by local master craftsman William Slack.
Mr. Slack built his home in 1890, using the design elements he incorporated in the mansions he helped build. Examples of his work include the Hermance House, the James V. Brown House (burnt down in 1919), and the Mussina House, along with other examples. With masterful adaptation of design and perspective, Mr. Slack made a modest home appear much larger than it actually is, an architectural treasure which highlights his artistry. William Slack’s home has been maintained almost exactly how he built it, both inside and out.
The Tiniest Mansion in Williamsport is also on the Saturday tour of homes (tickets required). Friday evening’s program will acquaint you with Mr. Slack’s talents, to better appreciate the treasure which exists in our community.
The program will be presented by Elaine Decker, a local historian and author of Williamsport Past & Present. She is a historical researcher, specializing in uncovering the history of many of the buildings in Lycoming County.
The Krapf Gateway Center is handicapped accessible.
Parking and admission are free.
