NOTE TO ATTENDEES:
  • admission is free, but registration is required, as there are limited seats
  • there will be light refreshments (finger foods and soft drinks)
  • the event is officially 6:00 to 8:00 pm, however, doors will open at 5:30 pm for early arrivals
  • the speakers' presentations will begin at 6:30 pm sharp - kindly arrive by 6:30 to avoid disruption of the program

Info: Tatreez (cross stitching) teacher and mentor, Israa El-Saafin, shares a quick history of Palestinian cross stitching, and her own journey that has taken her back to her roots as she practises and teaches this ancestral tradition, building community through stitching.

'The Tension Between Hardship and Beauty'

Info: Visual artist, muralist and educator, Suzanne Ragheb, speaks about exploring the tension between hardship and beauty through her art, creating imagined spaces of hope, reflection, and emotional transcendence.

'Putting it Together'

Info: Ottawa-based artist, portrait painter and teacher, Sarah Marie Lacy, sets the stage for the host artist's presentation on the exhibit.

Host: Hala Al-Madi

Info: Host artist, Hala Al-Madi, will share some insight into the birth of this exhibit, and how a three line poem by an American poet led to her most challenging and rewarding painting series to date.
