February 29th, 2020 was The Englander's fateful "Lost Our Lease Party", where hundreds of folks poured back into the pub to look around, reminisce, & say one last goodbye to a staple of San Leandro that lasted almost a quarter century.
So many awesome people went through those doors at 101 Parrott Street in San Leandro. Many were employees & regulars forging lasting relationships that still survive to this day, many were just random travelers seeing Jot's advertisement at Oakland International. Many were sports enthusiasts cheering on their favorite team daily or World Cuppers that came out only every four years. Many were local musicians, comedians, or artists that played or performed the Club stage, the temporary outside stage back before the patio was remodeled, or even the big Sausage & Suds or Mayfest stages. & still, many more than we'd like have left us over the years, regulars & Englander employees alike, but their memories will always remain in our minds & hearts.
We are proud to host the THIRD official Englander Reunion Party at Danny Murry's, just throwing distance from where the late, great, infamous Englander Sports Pub & Restaurant used to reside. We can't forget about The Vine & Tapas spot next door, which begun a new chapter of awesome employees & regulars - so of course they are all part of the grand Englander community & more than invited. Join us Saturday, March 1st & share stories, pictures, merch, beer society plaques, old gift certificates (sorry, you can't redeem them here lol), you name it - anything & everything Englander! Special bonus points for anyone sporting an Englander t-shirt, hat, golf tournament polo, or Sausage & Suds shirt.
This year we'll have 2 DJ's - long-time affiliate Chris Newey aka E-Fence starts the party off 6-9pm followed by local favorite DJ Emet G 9-1:15. We'll be featuring Moonlight Brewing beers & Underberg, repped by the one & only Josh Charleton, who brought in more handles at The Englander than anyone! Also our kitchen is still temporarily closed, so please feel free to bring in your own food if you'd like.
All Englander affiliates are welcome & the more the merrier. Let's see who shows up, makes the trek, makes a rare public appearance (even Mr. Jot himself came through last year!) & see what stories are told & memorabilia is dug up. Hard to believe The Englander will have been gone a whole 5 years ... which means DM's is coming up on year 3! Looking forward to creating new memories with such an array of awesome individuals, & please spread the word to all the non-social media folks out there. Cheers!
