The Texas Chili Cookoff 2023 - New York Chapter

Fellow Longhorn alumni and friends…the time has finally come that we have long been waiting for: The Texas Exes is bringing back our famous Chili Cookoff to New York City!

We had a stellar turnout in 2022, after a two-year long hiatus from the pandemic. But for 2023, we are going to be BIGGER, LOUDER, and TASTIER than last year! We look forward to proudly hosting and celebrating our friendships, all things Burnt Orange, and the best chili east of the Hudson River!

For those new to Chili Cookoff, it is a 5-hour celebration of all you can eat chili and queso (at least until it runs out!), all you can drink Texas beverages, and good ol’ fashion Texas-sized fun, hosted at Pig Beach BBQ in Astoria this year. We’ll also have music, tailgate games, and non-stop play of the Golden Years (i.e., the 2006 Rose Bowl Championship game).

Our Chili Cookoff is also a scholarship fundraising event. We hope to raise as much money to support New York students to attend the University of Texas-Austin. Now with out-of-state tuition going over $41,000/year, it is an important reminder why we fundraise: so that we may send more Yankee kids to the great State of Texas for an amazing, educational experience, and bring the Burnt Orange enthusiasm back home!
