THE TELESCOPES return to Nottingham for their first show in the city since October 2023. Founded in 1987 by singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and core member Stephen Lawrie. The Telescopes can lay claim to being one of the most influential outfits of their generation, laying the foundations for the noise rock, shoegaze and neo-psychedelic movements along the way.
Currently signed to Tapete Records, their recorded output includes an astonishing 19 studio albums alongside countless singles, EPs, live albums and compilations. The Telescopes' music has been cited as inspiring the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, A Place To Bury Strangers and Slowdive among others while forever moving forwards creatively.
The Telescopes live experience is known for having an ever-revolving line up that can vary between one and twenty people. On their new album 'Static Charge', The Telescopes are a four piece consisting of The Telescopes founder and protagonist Stephen Lawrie on guitar and vocals, Darrell Carter on guitar, Robert Prest on bass with John Lynch on drums and percussion.
This will be an unmissable and unforgettable live experience and one we're honoured to be bringing to Billy Bootleggers.
Support comes from Derby-based experimental outfit GODDESSES, whose fusion of psych, jazz, noise and space rock makes them the perfect accompaniment to the headliners.
