This is the event for the 18+ evening show, downstairs at the Gaso. Please note that there is also an All Ages afternoon upstairs at the Gaso.Folk 'Til Ya Punk Records are the crew behind Hobart's long running folk-punk festival HOBOFOPO, and they're proud to be presenting The Taxpayers national tour in Australia this November.
The Taxpayers are a long-running experimental DIY genre-bending punk band that started in Portland, Oregon in 2007. After an eight year hiatus, The Taxpayers have made a dream comeback in 2024, selling out shows all across the USA and seeing their spotify stats jump from 500k monthly listeners to 1mil. They will top off this stellar year with their first ever international tour, to Australia.
Their acclaimed 2012 concept album about the rise and fall of a fictional baseball player, "God, Forgive These Bastards" was widely considered one of the best albums of the year, it features the song "I Love You Like An Alcoholic" and was even turned into a musical stage production.
Their Melbourne/Naarm show will be at The Gaso in Collingwood, with an all ages show upstairs 3-5pm with The Heterophobes on support, then an 18+ show downstairs 8-11.30pm with The Currency and Gusto Gusto on support.
The Currency will return from a hiatus to belt out their folk-rock anthems that you love so much. Formed from members of Mutiny and The Living End, they have been packing out venues and playing big stages of festivals for over a decade now.
Gusto Gusto will provide some lively and danceable manouche jazz and manic folk, Gusto Gusto were recently touring the UK, with performances at Glastonbury festival, they're about to launch an album, and given their schedule is full of playing all corners of Australia, this is a rare opportunity to catch them play a home town show.
