Records sent from home carried the voices of Greece across oceans: songs that spoke of war-torn streets and villages, of love and longing, of defiance, grief, joy, and resilience. They soothed homesick hearts—young and old alike—and became the soundtrack of a new life far from home.
Now we return to that past, through stories and music shaped by the Greek–Australian experience. The Taxithi Project celebrates this legacy with the unforgettable songs of Greece’s most influential composers—Manos Hatzidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Loizos—and the legendary voices of Haris Alexiou, George Dalaras, Tzeni Vanou and Marinella.
Bringing these songs to life are the soulful voice of Helen Yotis, the dazzling bouzouki of Jacob Papadopoulos, and the extraordinary Andrew Patterson on piano.
We may forget, but songs always remember
