The Tao of Abbey Lincoln

In 2024 I recieved the NYFA Women's Fund Grant for a project that I conceptualized called The Tao of Abbey Lincoln. I am excited to present the first full live performance/workshop of this piece at Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, NY.

I have created new works using the unpublished poetry and prose of Ms. Lincoln combined with my own compositiones. Although Abbey is best known as a jazz vocalist, I am bringing her into the future through electronic music.

Tao loosley means: The art or skill of doing something in harmony with the essential nature of the thing. I think of it as the philosphy of a thing or in this case, of a person. My goal is to bring to the fore, what was at the core of Abbey's way of being; her way of knowing.

Please join me on Friday, October 24th for a live electronic music performence of The Tao of Abbey Lincoln followed by a Q&A about project and Ms. Abbey Lincoln. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the building; bearing witness to the beginning.
