ABOUT THE TANGO ACADEMY
Inside The Tango Academy you will…
- get comfortable with the embrace and connection
- learn how to walk two as one to “get” the foundation of tango — not just memorize steps
- learn classic tango elements to start/continue your tango journey
What you’ll learn:
Level 1:
👉 You’ll be able to comfortably dance a tango at a social, with basic elements of walking, turning (giros), ochos and the follow's cross
Level 2:
👉 You’ll be fine-tuning various elements and dynamics in your walk to make it feel delicious, perfecting your turning energy with various classic giros (turns) — including the “milonguero dip,” and working on Tango Vals for the second half

- want a strong foundation — not just random moves
- have two left feet, no rhythm, have never taken a dance class or “flunked” out of tango
- have movement/dance experience, but are new to tango
- are looking to re-visit the basics to get a stronger, connection-focused foundation

An opportunity to get individualized feedback, to work on whatever it is you are troubleshooting, get questions answered, or practice & get a tango "tune-up."

REGISTRATION:
* Registering for both series is only open to Adv. Beginner/Intermediate-level dancers. Level 1 is All Levels -- beginners welcome!
If you dance tango but have never taken my tango with me before, I recommend taking both series. The Level 2 class will build on what is taught in the Level 1 class that same day, so regardless of how much experience you have, it’s a great opportunity to take both classes – and that way, we’ll all progress faster!

FAQs
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing or dress it up. The important thing is shoes: wear shoes that allow you to pivot/spin (i.e., do not grip the floor), that are secure on your feet (i.e., no flip-flops), and that you can walk comfortably in. If in doubt, feel free to bring an extra pair with you. You can also turn almost any comfortable shoe into a dance shoe by placing an old sock over the front half of the shoe. This should allow you to pivot easily.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No need to print your ticket; once you register you'll be on the list!
What's the refund policy?
No refunds. However, the class slot is transferrable to someone who will dance the same role (follow or lead) as the original registration. Contact [email protected] with details no later than September 15, 2026.
