About this Event
Are you an Learning, Talent or HR professional based in Scotland?
Founded in 2018, the Talent Gathering is Scotland's newest conference dedicated to HR, Learning and Talent Professionals that brings together colleagues from across the Scottish community to connect, learn and share while hearing from a wonderful array of speakers.
On Thursday 3rd October 2024 the Talent Gathering returns to Scottish Gas Murrayfield , where out speakers will share their thoughts and opinions on all things learning and talent.
Joining us for the Talent Gathering 2024 are;
Donald H Taylor, joins us as conference chair, a veteran in the fields of learning and development and learning technologies, with experience at every level from design and delivery to chairman of the board.
A recognised commentator and thinker in the fields of workplace learning and supporting technologies, Donald is committed to helping develop the learning and development profession. From 2010 to 2021, he chaired the Learning and Performance Institute.
A core part of Donald’s commitment to the profession is what he calls ‘creating spaces for meaningful conversations’. To support this, he has chaired the Learning Technologies Conference in London since 2000, hosted its bi-weekly webinar programme since 2007, and contributed to conferences world-wide. His annual L&D Global Sentiment Survey, running since 2014, attracts responses from thousands of respondents in over 100 countries.
Professor Damian Hughes is an international speaker and bestselling author who combines his practical and academic background within sport, organisational development and change psychology, to help organisations and teams to create a high performing culture.
Returning to the Talent Gathering as one of two keynote speakers, Damian is an acclaimed author and co-host of the High Performance Podcast, whose books – on the psychology of high performance, teams, culture, leaders and change – have been translated into 10 languages.

His innovative and exciting approach has been praised by Sir Richard Branson, Muhammed Ali, Sir Terry Leahy, Sir Roger Bannister, Tiger Woods, Jonny Wilkinson and Sir Alex Ferguson.

As a Squadron Leader she led on operational combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and was the first female helicopter pilot to fly and lead UK Special Forces missions in Iraq. During her experiences both at home and at war, she made two important discoveries; resilience and performance under pressure is NOT instinctive and secondly humans have an extraordinary ability to excel and lead the way under pressure…when they know how.
Sarah joins us as our second keynote speaker and has ONE mission, to share the secret to outstanding resilience, performance and courage “under fire”.
Cathy Hoy is the former Chief Learning Officer at the Learinng and Performance Institute and has led the global learning, talent, and culture strategies for several organisations across a range of industries and has a proven track record of success, having worked internationally for renowned brands such as Expedia, Coca Cola and Soho House.
Cathy's Cathy's knowledge and experience have empowered her to successfully create and execute learning strategies that have enhanced both employee and overall business performance. Her expertise lies in her ability to blend strategic vision with practical implementation, creating effective learning environments that drive growth and innovation.
In 2020, Cathy joined Soho House as their Global L&D Director. There, she focused on cultivating a more diverse and inclusive working and learning environment, demonstrating her commitment to equality and inclusivity in the workplace.
With her experience and passion for learning and development, Cathy continues to shape the future of organisational learning through CLO100. CLO100 provides CLO Community Membership and the Learning Leaders Programme, a programme dedicated to the development of L&D leaders, equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to create high-performing learning organisations.
