The Take Back adresses gentrification and urban removal in Black communities, advocating for reparations through unity, art, and activism.
About this Event

American racism has created gentrification and urban removal within Black communities thus the need for Black reparations in America. In San Francisco the communities were buried by shopping malls and freeways.  Black communities where Marlowe Gallery exists were turned into Union Square-filled with luxury boutiques and shopping malls without an acknowledgement or an effort to repair those communities displaced. However, Little Italy and Chinatown are neighborhoods that are funded and still remain intact to this day. This continuum of gentrification and urban removal across the country has motivated Osaze Seneferu and Trent Taylor the III to organize an exhibit at Marlowe gallery that intentionally resists the historical erasure of Black people and people of color.

This exhibit is designed to communicate and connect with artists that share their interests, creating a strong feeling of unity amongst diverse groups. They are intending to inspire countless creatives by integrating their self-expression through art and activism.
