The Supreme Court & You: Understanding Recent Decisions

In this timely and accessible discussion, Dr. Samaha, Assistant Professor of Public Law at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, will explore several recent Supreme Court decisions and unpack what they mean for the balance of power in our government, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the way our country is governed.
Whether you follow the Court closely or find legal news a little overwhelming, this class will provide context, explain the issues in plain language, and give you a better understanding of how decisions made by nine justices can have far-reaching effects on all of us.

About the speakers:

Trevor G. Samaha, Ph.D. is currently an Assistant Professor of Public Law at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Prior to his appointment at UTC, he earned his Ph.D. at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV with subfields of American Politics and Public Policy. He was previously an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Glenville State University. Prior to entering academia, he served in the United States Navy. He earned his Master of Arts in Political Science from West Virginia University, his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cal Poly Pomona (Magna Cum Laude), and his Associate of Arts in Political Science from Fullerton College (High honors). Dr. Samaha is an avid fan of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Angels and was born and raised in Southern California. He enjoys hiking and fishing and pretty much anything outdoors in his free time.
