The Supervision Toolbox™: Foundations
About this Event
Whether you're an experienced clinical supervisor or preparing to supervise your first Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC), effective supervision requires more than good clinical skills—it requires structure, ethical decision-making, intentional teaching, and practical tools.
The Supervision Toolbox™: Foundations is an interactive continuing education workshop designed to help current and aspiring clinical supervisors build a strong ethical and organizational foundation for supervision.
Participants will explore practical supervision systems, documentation, onboarding strategies, ethical responsibilities, and teaching techniques that strengthen both the supervisory relationship and supervisee development. Throughout the training, participants will receive practical resources that can be implemented immediately within their supervision practice.
Rather than focusing solely on theory, this workshop emphasizes real-world application, discussion, and ready-to-use supervision tools that promote confidence, consistency, and clinical excellence.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify essential supervision systems that support ethical and effective oversight of Associate Licensed Counselors (ALCs), including supervision contracts, documentation practices, and professional disclosure requirements.
- Explain the clinical supervisor's ethical responsibilities as outlined in the ACA Code of Ethics, including supervision competence, transparency, and client protection.
- Differentiate direct supervision activities from "other hour" supervision experiences while applying supervision guidelines and documentation standards to support supervisee development.
- Apply practical supervision strategies, psychoeducational frameworks, standardized clinical tools, and foundational teaching techniques that strengthen supervisee confidence, clinical reasoning, and professional identity development.
- Develop an action plan for implementing at least one new supervision structure, teaching strategy, or clinical resource within their current supervisory practice.
