The Sugarland Express (1974) | Seventies Sundays Series

From April - October our Sunday Classics series is taking a trip back to the '70s! Seventies Sundays showcases some of the most beloved films from the “New Hollywood” era on the big screen. Featuring early works from iconic filmmakers Steven Spielberg & George Lucas to eccentric hits like Harold and Maude and Smokey and the Bandit. These seven films will be a blast to watch with a crowd!

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: An often overlooked entry in Steven Spielberg’s oeuvre, SUGARLAND EXPRESS is the auteur's first theatrically-released American film and would showcase his commanding direction and tender approach to stories about family. Goldie Hawn and William Atherton star as a married couple who also happen to be small-time crooks. They end up stealing back their fostered son while on the run from the law and become folk heroes along the way.
