The Subtle Body and Tantric YogaDr. Ian Baker
Times:
Friday & Saturday 13-17
Sunday 13-16
Price: 2300,-
Early Bird (until Feb. 1st 2025): 1800,-
In this practical and immersive course, Ian Baker will review subtle body yogic practices across traditions, including Taoism and Asian Medicine, while focusing on the living transmission of the ‘unsurpassed yoga’ (anuttarayoga) tantras of Vajrayāna Buddhism and correlative yogic techniques within the Nāthasaṃpradāya and Śakta lineages of Indian Tantrism. The program will be enhanced with contributions by the Indian Nāth-Vajrayāna master, Kulavadhuta Satpurananda (Khyapa Avadhut) who will elucidate the foundational practices of tantric yoga common to both Vajrayāna Buddhism and the goddess-centric traditions of Hinduism Shaktism (Śāktasampradāyaḥ). Special emphasis will be given to the associated practices of kuṇḍalinī yoga and caṇḍālī (Tibetan: tummo) yoga, literally ‘union with the fierce goddess of heat and passion’, whereby vital energy is channeled through cakras, or energy plexuses, along the body’s central meridian, activating dormant human capacities. Illustrated presentations will alternate with guided breathing and proprioceptive movement practices that unify, in Buddhist terms, the interconnected spheres of intangible emptiness, energy, and physical substance (Dharmakāya, Sambhogakāya, Nirmāṇakāya) as they pertain to human embodiment and experience. The course will also address complementary scientific insights into the body as a “fluid continuum” with bioelectrical and quantum aspects that establish limits on defining reality in purely objective terms, and thus revealing the body itself as an unfolding expression of the living, conscious universe.
