Hey there, we’re The Substitutes, a Virginia Beach-based band who passionately rocks out extremely cool covers of some of your favorite widely-beloved-yet-not-overplayed New Wave/Alternative/Grunge jams. Made up of Gen X-ers and a “High Elder” Millennial, we may be middle-aged(ish), but with charismatic and powerful lead vocalist Sarah Chappell, crazy-good drummer and backup vocalist Eric Van De Wal, stellar bassist Steve Fedryk, and righteous lead guitarist John Cain, the band is positively magnetic on stage.
