A band with a big sound and swagger to spare, the Struts are a British rock group who deliver a pop-infused brand of hard rock that owes a debt of influence to the glory days of U.K. glam. The Struts first achieved mainstream success with their single “Could Have Been Me” off their debut album Everybody Wants in July 2014, and then continued that momentum with the 2018 single “Body Talks.”
Fans have compared lead singer Luke Spiller’s sound and style to that of the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Spiller welcomes the comparison, cultivating his list of influences to include Queen, the Rolling Stones, Oasis, and The Libertines. The Struts have been described as “unabashedly over the top retro-fetishist classic rock,” “glamorous and dangerous,” and as “having a chance to spark a real rock revival with their hooky glam sound, which manages to pay tribute to the classics, while remaining impeccably modern.”
