Program Description: In genuine synchronistic fashion JACO’s 35th anniversary arrives in 2024, designated in Tarot symbolism as “The Year of Strength.” This occurs as people world-wide debate what truly constitutes ‘a strong man’ or ‘a strong woman.’ Jungian thought contributes significantly and uniquely to this conversation by arguing that true strength of character derives from “illuminating the darkness.” In other words, strength emerges from a particular orientation to the archetypal shadow, namely from an embrace of the less known and less accepted aspects of ourselves. Precisely what this entails will be the focus of this afternoon lecture and discussion. In so doing, we hope to illumine in some way the strength we can bring to the challenges before us in 2024.
