“Hope and Firm Faith: The Story of the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph” is a book that brings to life the amazing women who have served God’s people from their humble beginnings at Maple Mount, Ky. Saint Angela Merici founded the Order of Saint Ursula in Brescia, Italy, and following her death, convents spread across Europe. Eventually the Ursulines found their way to North America, and in 1858, to Louisville, Ky. Just 16 years later, five brave Ursuline Sisters boarded a flatboat on the Ohio River to come to the wilderness of Daviess County and open Mount Saint Joseph Academy.
Join local author Dan Heckel as he talks about the history of the Ursuline sisters and his new book.
