About this Event
Join us for an opening reception for “The Story of Boston’s BIG DIG” exhibit at the West End Museum.
From 1991 to 2006, Boston undertook an ambitious project: put the Central Artery that ran through Downtown underground, create a new tunnel to the airport, and install the world’s first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge. On top of all that, the City promised to not close a single road, not take a single home, and not close a single business. What could go wrong?
Join The West End Museum for an exhibit exploring the past and present of Boston’s traffic problem along with how and why the Big Dig tried to fix it. Guest-curated by former Big Dig spokesperson, David Kruh, this exhibit invites you to think big and dig deep into the City of Boston’s largest urban planning project.
Light refreshments will be served.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
