The music of Scott Joplin is used as the score throughout the film, promoting a resurgence in the popularity of ragtime when the film was released. In particular, Joplin’s “The Entertainer” reached the top of Billboard’s pop charts. This film is a pure delight for so many reasons, not the least of which is the pairing of Robert Redford and Paul Newman -- both at top of their game – and incredible cinematography, sets and costumes.
