About this Event
Dr. Alex Krichels and Katey Driscoll are research ecologists at the U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station in Albuquerque. Dr. Krichels’ research focuses on how disturbances and management affect soil carbon and nutrient availability. Katey studies riparian, aquatic, wetland, and groundwater-dependent ecosystems. Alex and Katey currently have a shared project studying the effects of stream restoration treatments used in headwater systems of the Rio Grande. These treatments include beaver dam analogs and plug-and-ponds that have the potential to affect water quality and storage, soil carbon, fish and wildlife habitat, and riparian ecosystems in the Rio Grande watershed. This is an in person event at the Larry P. Abraham Agri-Nature Center.
